Celebrate National Nutrition Month with 6 Quick Dinner Recipes

Did you know that March is National Nutrition Month?

During these thirty-one days, the United States’ largest organization of food and nutrition professionals, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, encourages people to “learn about making informed food choices and develop healthful eating and physical activity habits.”

You may have heard of food models that help show people what their serving sizes should look like from each of the basic food groups. Until 2011, MyPyramid, a triangle divided into six sections, representative of each main food group, was standard in the United States. MyPlate, the current food model, shows how each food group should be represented proportionally in each meal.

While models are useful, it can certainly be challenging to figure out how to reflect them in your own life. Dietary needs vary from person to person, and what people eat is largely individualized. Tools are certainly useful to guide people down a path that works for them.

The National Nutrition Month website supports people learning to make informed food choices and developing healthy eating and physical activity habits. It offers resources such as nutrition information, planning and prep tips, and greater understanding of how to fuel your body for the various activities you may tackle.

A barrier that many often face when trying to develop healthful eating habits is time. Preparing nutritious meals can be challenging, even when working from home. What’s more is washing up dishes after the fact. If you’re feeling strapped for time, here are a few delicious and nutritious recipes that you can make in 35 minutes or less!
