February is Black History Month. Though Black History is something that should be celebrated & learned year round, we wanted to take some time to slow down and focus extra energy on resources for our Black & QTBIPOC siblings and shedding light on the organizations and businesses they lead.
This list is not exhaustive, but it does include several community groups, and businesses owned and operated by QTPOC individuals that are located in Northern California.
Northern California Resources for QTBIPOC individuals:
- Queer In Oakland
- QTPOC Mental Health Services List
- STRUT SF QTPOC Community Groups
- Oakland LGBTQ Center
- SF Transgender District
- Queer Cultural Center Resource List
- National Queer & Trans Therapists of Color Network (NQTTCN)
- QWOC Media & Arts Project
- The Okra Project (provides home-cooked meals to Black Trans community members)
- Sacramento QTPOC Gender Health Center
- Sacramento In the Know: QPOC community group
- Nationwide QTPOC Resource & Organization List
Black and QTBIPOC-owned businesses also need our support, and we need your help compiling a robust list of these organizations to share with our growing following. Help us develop a more comprehensive list of businesses in the Northern California region so people can continue to back local Black & QTBIPOC individuals long after February is over.
If you know of any Black, QTBIPOC, and/or LGBTQ+ owned businesses, non-profit organization, or group you’d like to add to our ongoing resource list, please add it to our list. We will be sharing this list with the public in the next few weeks.
