2019 in Review

As a non-profit organization, we continuously search for ways to make meaningful connections with our LGBTQ community. Valuable lessons come from looking back at what we’ve accomplished to find new opportunities for growth. We created a review of 2019 and are very excited to share with you some of our favorite projects from the year, supporting the community. Here is a quick recap:

2019 Viral Video Contest Awardees Holding up Checks

Facilitated the Viral Video Contest, a high school scholarship contest raising awareness for STD prevention & hosted the awards ceremony

Partnered with City of San Jose and San Jose Downtown Association to install colorful LED lighting displays on Post Street

Expanded (7th Annual) Post Street Jubilee Wellness Festival to 34 booths and 3 city blocks with much more diverse LGBTQ+ entertainment and more than 7,000 attendees

Hosted two sports inclusion “Equality Nights” – While this was fewer than past years, both incorporated more community elements and features, from singing of the national anthem to  a pre-game resource fair

Co-hosted World AIDS Day Memorial Ceremony & Candlelight Vigil and exhibited panels of the AIDS Memorial Quilt

 

Drag Queens & Kings, Project MORE team members, and partners at Ice Queens

Hosted our first drag queen on ice event called “Ice Queens” with donations supporting Bill Wilson Center, LGBTQ Youth Space, and Life Moves — a free event with donations providing 26 pieces of new clothing & $155 cash to LGBTQ+ persons in need

Santa Clara County Social Services Diversity Day Fair

Collaborated with Social Services of Santa Clara County on annual Diversity Day with coordinated blood and marrow drive, driving awareness of the MSM blood ban
